Timberlake Tumble?

First, let me say that I am a HUGE fan of Justin Timberlake and have been since his N’ Sync days.  He is overly talented in many, many ways.  However, I think we have found one thing that JT cannot do well and that is create a home line.

This makes Timberlake the latest celebrity to join the BeachMint empire, which includes Rachel Bilson (ShoeMint), the Olsens (StyleMint), Kate Bosworth (JewelMint), and Jessica Simpson (BeautyMint).

Good Lord. I’m overwhelmed already.

In partnership with interior decorator Estee Stanley, the two attempted to produce a wallet-friendly line of home goods only available online. Right off the bat, I was turned off by the monthly $10 fee which they say will buy you discounts and early access to products – but non-members can still shop the designs.  Unless I’m getting at minimum a 20% discount AND free shipping, I’m not interested in having another monthly fee. Additionally, the member prices are not "wallet-friendly" by my standards.

While, I admit, I have not seen any of these products in person, there seems to be a whole lot of ugly going on in the pillow line. The colors are … drab.  Nothing about them makes we think “I have to have those - immediately.”

Global Market Pillows
No, thank you.

Belgian Stripes Pillow
 Not so much.

Nubby Silk Pillow
 Huh?

Bohemian Paisley
N.O.

Sooo, back the truck up, JT.  It seems you have tackled too much too fast and launched a line with little appeal. We’ll look forward to your next album instead.  Oh, and your wedding to Jessica.  She has unbelievable style, so you should be in better hands!

You can view the full collection at HomeMint.com.  Tell me, what do you think of Justin's line?

The inspirational Chihuly exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum is not to be missed!  (Hint: attend a concert in the park to view the sculptures lit at night…. it takes it to another level!) Learn more about the artist here. Here are some pics from last week when we attended. Sorry for the low quality – I forgot my good camera so the iPhone had to make do. Enjoy!

Wallpaper LOVE

My mom wallpapered several rooms in our house where we grew up - multiple times.  I still remember the day she let ME pick out new wallpaper for my room.  The decision!  I remember my favorite part of the paper (with lots of flowers) was the border … remember those?!?  While I’m not into borders anymore, I’m gaga over wallpaper right now.  I desperately want to use it in our house, so think I’m going to start small with the half bath.  But, there are so many (great) options out there, it just may be harder to decide now than it was 20-some years ago.  Did I mention that I have never wallpapered?  This could get ugly. And the walls have some texture to them (yuck) so that will be the first hurdle.  Thank goodness my mom has offered to help!  More to come!  In the meantime, here is what I’m considering…

Product Profile

I am a frequent shopper of Whole Foods and was browsing their skincare aisles a few months ago in search of a new face wash when a store clerk turned me onto Ann Webb’s skincare line. It wasn’t terribly expensive so I decided to give it a try.

It. Has. Changed. My. Life. A victim to pimples (yes, still in my 30’s!), and after many, many visits to the dermatologist, I was always in search of pretty, clear skin. This led me to change my skin care routine frequently.  I was always changing products and have only recently learned the importance of consistency.

I have used the Peppermint Milk Hydrating Cleanser and Coconut Milk and highly recommend both.

The great thing about this cleanser is that it doubles as a mask.  Leave it on for up to 30 minutes and then rinse, it leaves your skin so soft.  I do the mask treatment a couple times a week.  My pores have gotten smaller, less oily and skin tone more even.

Another tip … my facialist got me on to rinsing with medical gauze pads.  These are cheaper than cosmetic rounds and you can find them at any medical supply store. And remember to moisturize the back of your neck in addition to the front.

What is your skincare routine? Do you swear by an expensive product, or lean more towards drugstore brands?
